Jeanne, Penny and Family,
I will miss your Mom and Grandmother. Seems like I have know her all my life from the days of babisetting Penny to the Cozy Corner times she came for lunch, to working at the sidewalks sales for her store and of course her volunteer work at St. Anthony's. She was always somewhere in my life. She was a woman you could look up too. Strong and confidant, she was ahead of her time and encouraged others to be all they could be. She was very proud of all of her family and spoke of them often.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

The day my dad died, I had occasion to go to Masrie's store. I
was feeling sad and distracted and when I told her why; Marie took my hand and prayed with me right in her
strore. I was thankful for her kindness! Jeannine S. Furukawa

Marie was that one person you could always depend on. We had many conversations about faith and trust. I always walked away the benefactor of her wisdom and kindness. She was an encouragement to me. I know that she is cradled in the arms of the Lord she loved and worshipped. You were a lovely lady, Marie!

Marie was a hallmark of the Crown Point town square with a memorable energetic and animated personality. She leaves an indelible impression from the golden age of small businesses and when independents made their mark, by constantly working her shop and with customer service and satisfaction her goal. From the opening days of her first store on East Joliet her doors were always destinations and a treasure trove of discovery for a young child and adult alike.
