It's very difficult for me to believe I am standing here talking about Laraine. I met Laraine when I was 19 so we have known each other for 47 years!
I feel totally devastated that Laraine has left us all - as everyone who is here today knows that Laraine was an incredibly thoughtful, loving and beautiful woman.
I had such amazing times with Laraine over our years of knowing each other with our friendship never waining - we were always there for one another through thick and thin!
Laraine always seemed the stronger one - always giving me such wise advice and love.
She loved all her boys - always telling each one that they were her favourite! Laraine was a home maker and in particular her Waiheke home - filling it full of love and devotion with her and Paul working endlessly in their beautiful garden - they were totally devoted to making Waiheke a special haven. The Kauri trees that both Laraine & Paul planted for Jamie, Jonathan, Gene and Miko - she felt very happy that they were growing with such vigour. Laraine did many years ago mention that she wanted to make a beautiful cabin at the bottom of the garden to rent out - she was always dreaming of making it more beautiful.
Gerard and I would go over to Waiheke often and Laraine would aways make the most stunning dinners - always following a recipe to perfection - and she always giggled at me as I would just throw any measurement in to the blend and hope it would turn out ok!
Today Laraine I feel so very sad that you have left us - you deserve to still be here in the vibrant manner you always were. I will miss you incredibly but I do know that we will meet again.

I'm so sorry Tom for your loss. And to Laraine's family and friends.
I'll always remember her thinking how come she's got cool long blond hair. She was so beautiful through the eyes of a young girl growing up next door. She inspired me.
