I just learned of Margaret's death. She was an exchange student at Mount Pleasant High School in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. We remained in contact over the years and she stayed with us when she traveled to our 50th high school reunion. She was a lovely person - I'm sure she is deeply missed by family and friends.

My thoughts and condolences are with Margaret´s family and friends at this time of loss and celebration, and I would like to share two photographs. Her friends, Lesley and Mervyn Aitken, who appear in one of the photos, brilliantly organised a small group of us, including Margaret, to walk the Queen Charlotte Walkway in December of 1993. It was on this walk that I remember meeting Margaret; enjoying her lively company and also her wonderful knowledge of the bush and bird life. In the photograph of the weka, Margaret is looking on curiously with friend Rosemary Lawrence.

We are saddened that Margaret has left us, but very glad that we visited and farewelled her in song just last week. Margaret has been a great friend over the years at St Andrew's and we remember her unending enthusiasm for life and the sparkle with which she participated in many activities.
We are not currently in Wellington and sorry we can not join in the celebration of Margaret's life..it will be a grand occasion and we hope to be with you in spirit on livestream.
Arohanui to all the family, Mervyn and Lesley Aitken
