Obituary

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Former "Survivor" contestant Jennifer Lyon has died at age 37.

Lyon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, the same year she finished fourth on the CBS reality show.

A network representative confirmed her death Wednesday. Lyon was raised in the Columbia River city of The Dalles. Her biography on CBS.com says she attended Portland State and Western Oregon universities before graduating from Oregon State.

She joined the "Survivor Palau" competition as a nanny and graduate student from California. Following her diagnosis, she became an advocate for breast cancer awareness.

Not sure what to say?

Miss you Jenn, I will always remember our laughs and our fun nights out. You were truly a beautiful human and I was so lucky to have had known you. Love you JoJo ❤

survivors 40th season just passed, just remembering you after the finale

My friends. Jason, Natalie, (me)kevin stohl and Doug thanks Jenn for being our inspiration

My wife and I just finished watching Jenn on her season of Survivor. What an amazing Woman. Jennifer's kindness and tender heart, melted ours with each episode. I am a Leiomyosarcoma survivor. I did my chemo and radiation at the Huntsman center in Utah I am grateful to my Father in Heaven for talented and gifted doctors in this world. My prayers are with Jennifer's family and friends. May she continue to touch our hearts with her amazing Spirit.

I'm just now watching her season of Survivor on DVD and have been struck by her kindness, friendliness, joy, and of course, her incredible beauty. I can't believe her life was so brief, yet I keep thinking how much she enjoyed her experience on Palau, especially swimming with the dolphins with her sister. Many people never get to live as much as she did during that time. I love you, Jenn. I wish you were still here.

Everyone is discussing Jennifer's accomplishments. Likewise just like family and friends are remembering Jennifer, may God keep Jennifer in his book of remembrance as well for her good works (Malachi 3:16).

I knew Jen very well at OSU and glad Lucy found this blog so we could share memories. Jen was in nutrition with me at OSU. I have a great pic of her and I on graduation day if u would like it let me know address etc and I will get a copy for you. Jen had a great attitude and loved people. I am sorry about her passing. She was so gorgeous and had a huge heart to go along with her smile. I hope that her parents read this because she used to tell me about both of you and what great...

I went to College with Jen at Oregon State University and both majored in Nutrition. I just found out yesterday of Jen's passing from our mutual friends at OSU.

Needless to say, I am shocked and devastated to hear about Jen's passing in 2010. I will always remember Jen's big bright smiles, her energetic and full of life spirit.

You will be missed.

RIP Jen.
