Babka, Leona S.  
Babka Leona S. Babka, age 96, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 under the loving care of the Laurels of Norworth. She was born June 8, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Frank and Wanda Mitrenga. Leona joins her husband Andrew R. Babka, whom she met in 1942. They married while Andrew was on Furlough in 1946. Leona worked as a Telephone Operator at Bell Telephone and as an Electrical Components Assembler with Zenith. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends. Leona was a friend to all. She is survived by her children, Arlene (Michael) Cooney, Glenn (Judy) Babka and Ronald (Sarah) Babka; many grandchildren and their families; along with many other family members. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smokey Row Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235. Father Nicola Ventura, Celebrant. Bowens, William "Ryan"  
Bowens William "Ryan" Bowens received his angel wings on July 30, 2015. He attended Thomas Worthington High School and was employed at the Little Turtle Country Club. Ryan enjoyed family, friends, and fishing He always had a warm smile for everyone. Ryan's greatest love was his daughter Isabella. Ryan is survived by his mother, Kathy Casto; and his stepfather, Mark Huffman; father, William R. (Crystal) Bowens; a step brother, James Dunham; grandparents, James A. and Dimple A. Casto; girlfriend, Brianne Hand, mother of his precious daughter, Isabella Kait Bowens; the Carr and Hand family; as well as many other family and friends; and his pet cat, "G". He will be missed by all who knew him. He will live on forever through his daughter's eyes and smile. Fly free my son. Bice Walter L. Bice, 72, of Marysville, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 at home. Formerly of Westerville. Retired from General Motors. U.S. Air Force Veteran. Member of Palestine Lodge # 0158 F & AM in Marysville. Preceded in death by wife Margaret Ann Wells, parents John and Elizabeth Bice and brother Charlie Bice. Survived by daughter, Teresa (Paul) Tharan of Akron, Susan (Jim) Bailey of Indian Lake and Valerie (Nick) Groves of Reynoldsburg; six grandchildren; and six great-grand-children; sisters, Helen, Carol and Nora and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m. followed by service at 2 p.m., August 4, 2015 at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville. Pastor Roger Williams officiating. Brown, Ruth Allen  
Brown Ruth Allen Brown, 92, passed away July 31, 2015. She was born on August 14, 1922 in Mayslick, KY, a daughter to the late Allen and Amy (Breeze) Prather. Ruth is survived by her husband of 67 years, Otis L. Brown; sister, Julia "Judy" Muntz; brother-in-laws, Carl (Ann) Brown, Russell (Emily) Brown; sister-in-laws, Ruth Nixon, Lonnie Brown and Albert (Faye) Parker; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Elmer, Alexander and Howard Prather and sisters Alma Earls, Edith Hankins and brother-in-laws Clarence Brown and Ronald Brown. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 3, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Kirker Cemetery in West Union, OH. Burks Marcella C. Burks. Born October 21, 1939 and called to be with the angels July 27, 2015. Marty is preceded in death by her loving husband William D. Burks and precious daughter Michelle R. Poe. She is survived by daughter, Kimberly A. Bloomfield (Kevin) Columbus, Ohio; son, Michael C. Poe (Roselind), Gilbert, Arizona; and son, James Burks (Colleen), Pataskala, Ohio; grandchildren, Justin Wesley, Aaron Michael, Michelle Alene and William Shepherd. Her hobbies were watching television (especially her soaps) and working puzzles. Her most cherished possession would have been her grandchildren. She loved them all passionately. Her favorite prayer would be to St. Anthony, she would say St. Anthony, St. Anthony something is lost and can't be found, please help me while I look around. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life Service is being planned. Please contact the family for details. Bailey Christine Y. Bailey was born on September 29, 1946 to the parents of Eliza M. Artis and William Edward Bailey. She went to the loving arms of our Saviour on July 26, 2015. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother Gary Bailey and her sister Marcia (Richard) Early. She leaves to cherish her great memories to her son, Kevin (Patricia) Bailey; her grand-daughters, Tarinesha Caldwell, Ja'shayla Mason, Jaylan Mason, Jocelyn Bailey and Olivia Bailey; siblings, William (Eva) Bailey, Phyllis Jackson, Ilester Bailey, Vanessa Goldstein, Stephen (Cynthia) Bailey; special friend and business partner, Harriett Malone; long-time friends, Marilyn Williams, Charlene Rivers and Rochelle Bailey, William and Hanna Pack; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and business associates. Baron, Richard Christopher  
Baron Richard Christopher Baron of Westerville, Ohio passed away after an honorable battle with cancer on July 28, 2015. He was born on December 25, 1960 in Port Chester, New York to John Matus and Lorraine Marie Graham Baron. Baron had a total of 31 years of service in the public safety and emergency services field. He was named Director of Ohio Homeland Security and the Homeland Security Advisor for Ohio in September 2011. Prior to his retirement, he served as a captain with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. After 25 years of service to the Patrol, he retired in April 2012. During his tenure with the Patrol, he worked in various capacities and sections to include Homeland Security and in the Office of Investigative Services, with primary assignments in northeast and central Ohio. He commanded investigatory and intelligence operations to include the Patrol's Warren District Investigations section, as well as Criminal Intelligence, and Computer Crimes Unit. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of Ohio Homeland Security's Fusion Center - the Strategic Analysis and Information Center - and was the center's first chief of operations. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol in 1987, Baron was a police officer with Hubbard Township Police Department in northeastern Ohio, as well as a firefighter and emergency medical technician with the city of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Baron was preceded in death by his parents John and Lorraine Baron. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Hulton Baron; his sons, Russell C. Baron (Crystal), William H, Baron (Morgan); daughter, Jennifer Baron Kuether (Nathan); two grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie and Graham Christopher Baron; brother, Thomas P. Baron; special extended family, Ruth and Bob Gay (Mom and Dad); brothers, Paul and Peter Gay; and sister, Pamela Carnes. He will be sadly missed by his best four legged friend, guardian and tiny companion, Joey (Two Bags) Baron. Calling hours will be held at SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Columbus, OH 43230 on August 3, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Church service on August 4, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Central College Presbyterian Church, located at 975 S. Belcher-Ruth Nancy Lou Belcher-Ruth, age 69, of Columbus, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 9:20 p.m. in the Kobacher House. She was born in Marion, Ohio on May 13, 1946 to Beryl C. and Hazel Mae Belcher. She is survived by two daughters; four grandchildren; a sister; two nieces; and a nephew. Friends may call at the BOYD-BORN FUNERAL HOME, Marion on Sunday, August 2, 2015, from 3-6 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev.Therese Lehman on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Prospect St. United Methodist Church, Marion with burial to follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Branaghan, Catherine (Kay)  
Branaghan Catherine (Kay) Branaghan, nee McMahon, 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor, Columbus, OH on July 29, 2015. Catherine was born in Pawtucket, RI and was a long time resident of Lakewood, OH, Freeport, NY and, most recently, Westerville, OH. Catherine was a Registered Nurse and served as an Army Cadet Nurse in WWII. Over the years she worked as a private duty nurse, a school nurse, a Headstart Program nurse and in various hospital settings. Although she retired from her position as a psychiatric nurse at Lakewood Hospital in 1989, she continued her nursing education and kept her license active into her '80s. Catherine was a devout Catholic. She was also a distinguished poet who was best known for her religious poetry. She is preceded in death (on May 21, 2015) by her beloved husband of 69 years, Richard L. Branaghan, Sr., her parents, three sisters, a brother and a granddaughter. She is survived by her six loving children, James Branaghan, Paula (David) Suveges, Patricia Wise, Virginia Janc, Rick (Deb) Branaghan and Russ (Tonya) Branaghan. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her presence in all of our lives will be dearly missed. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 313 N. State St., Westerville, OH., with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 a.m. Rev. Fr. Buscemi, Michael William  
Buscemi Michael William Buscemi, of Thornville, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the age of 47. Michael is survived by his wife, Erin Buscemi (Stucko); his children, Nicholas (11) and Natalie (18) Buscemi; daughter, of Angie Lambert; his parents, Susan (Renick) and Michael Buscemi; his siblings, Joseph Buscemi (Amy Buscemi), Colleen Adkinson (Michael Adkinson), and Dominic Buscemi (Marci Milito); and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his loving grandparents Ann and Tony Buscemi of West Jefferson, Ohio and Pete and Marjorie Renick of West Jefferson, Ohio and Orlando, Florida. Michael was born on September 2, 1967 in Columbus. After graduating from West Jefferson High School in 1986, Michael then graduated Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in Education and later earned a master's degree from the Ohio State University. Mike taught in the New Lexington School district where he touched the lives of countless children, and made lifelong and cherished friendships. An avid fisherman, boater and outdoor enthusiast, Mike made a home on Buckeye Lake where he raised his family. He had a passion for music and often played drums in area bands. A funeral is scheduled for Monday, August 3, at 10 a.m. at Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church in West Jefferson. Viewings are scheduled for Sunday, August 2 at RADER-McDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME from 1-3 and then from 5-7 p.m. located at 1355 W. Main St. in West Jefferson. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mike's life.
