Northrup, Virginia Marie Stock
Northrup Virginia Marie Stock Northrup, age 60, was called home by her Lord and Savior on February 25, 2015. Virginia was the eldest child of John and Lois Stock (who preceded her in death) and leaves to cherish her memory: devoted husband, Scot; precious daughter, Rachel (Robert) Prince and grandson, Isaac; loving brothers, John (Renee), Michael (Cheryl), James (Angharad); cherished sister, Margaret (Tim) King; nieces and nephews for whom she delighted in hosting celebrations to mark milestones and rites of passage Andrew, Brian, Rob, Jamey, Lauren, Jackie, Amy, Martha, Elizabeth, Nicole, and Jack. Others honoring Virginia's memory include aunts, uncles and cousins, Lynda, Francey, Sara, Andrew (Amanda), Payson, and Wesley Ackerman, John and Evelyn Northrup and many, many beloved friends. Virginia graduated from Whetstone High School and The Ohio State University College of Engineering (Chemical). She retired from Battelle Memorial Institute, most recently as a project manager in the polymer division. Following her twenty-five year career at Battelle, Virginia joined PolymerOhio to continue her work in polymer research and development. Virginia, a woman of science by training and career, was also a woman of great creativity and compassion. Her love of sewing, inspired by her grandmother, developed into a love of quilting. She joined the BMI Quilting Club and, over the years, designed, crafted, and donated quilts for babies who were born with HIV. She volunteered at Central Ohio Youth for Christ, mentoring teen mothers and promoting women in science, providing encouragement, reassurance, and empowerment. And, as a learned student of scripture and devoted servant of the Lord, she taught home groups for members of Xenos Christian Fellowship. In addition, her passion for scripture propelled Virginia to organize bible study groups among her colleagues and friends. Virginia's life - compassion, love, and grace - inspired so many. She was free spirited, ground breaking and accepting, both servant and leader. We will miss the sparkle in her eyes and her bright smile for others, ever present even during lifes challenges. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at Xenos Christian Fellowship at 1340 Community Park Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43229 on Saturday, March 7 from 2-4 p.m. The family invites you to join us in honor of Virginia's life and asks you to bring stories and memories to share during the celebration. If you would like to commemorate Virginia, please consider making a donation to Central Ohio Youth for Christ Teen Moms Program, 3630 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214. On Saturday, March 7 at 11 a.m., there will be a prayer service in the Chapel at Resurrection Cemetery, located 9571 N. High St., Lewis Center, Ohio 43035.
