Savoy, "Duon" Helen "Duon" Savoy. Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend has gone home to live with our Lord in Heaven. Anyone lucky enough to meet this special woman was immediately touched by her loving heart and giving spirit. Her devotion to her family and the Lord was reflected in everything she did. She will be greatly missed by Linda, Debbie, Heather, Rusty, Grace and Sarah, as well as 18 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. While we are heartbroken by her passing, we rejoice in knowing she is now healthy and happy and with her Heavenly Father. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 1 pm on Sunday, April 22 at Christian Fellowship Church, 5970 Godown Rd., Columbus, OH 43235. Arrangements completed at Moreland Funeral Home.

Walker, Vernie 1943 - 2018 Vernie Walker, 75, of Columbus, Oh, passed away April 19, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 12, 1943. She is preceded in death by her parents Jim and Birdie Fields and 6 sisters. Surviving family includes, husband, Coy Walker; daughters, Dawn (Greg) Pack and Lisa (Roger) Hinkle; grandchildren, Gregory Joshua (Erika), Halynn, Caitlyn, Zachary, Amber, Lindsey (Michael) and Jacob; great-granddaughter, Adalynn Pack; sisters, Grethel Muncy and Gail (Tim) McCoy. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday, April 23, 2018 at Shadeville Church of God, 4800 Lockbourne Road, Columbus, Oh. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Church. Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery. Reverend W. Michael Nichols will officiate. Wentzel, Joseph  
Wentzel, Joseph Joseph Edward Wentzel Sr., age 78, of Hilliard, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018. Graduate of North High School Class of 1958 and U.S Army Veteran. Joe was employed with Ohio National Bank as a branch Manager at the Riverside Hospital office and became a Commercial Loan Officer. He retired from Hilliard City Schools as a custodian. Preceded in death by parents John and Louise Wentzel, brothers Dick, Bob, Jim and Ray and sister Mary Teter. Survived by loving wife of 51 years, Leslie; children, Joseph E. (Kori Berman) Wentzel Jr. and Kathlene (Andrew Schwarzell) Wentzel; brothers, Jack (Peter Ratcliffe) Wentzel and Roy (Jean) Wentzel; grandchildren, Alexa, Korianna, Kaden and Amaya Schwarzell; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Pete) Henderson, Glenna Johnston and Mary Louise (Donald) Sevetson; brother-in-law, Tom Frank; special little brother, Patrick Dempsey; and numerous loving relatives and friends. Hinds Ashley, Heather Marie 1977 - 2018 Heather Marie Hinds Ashley, 40, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 in Columbus, OH. Heather was born on July 26, 1977 in Colorado Springs, CO to Lewis K. Hinds, Jr. and Tamara Hinds. Heather is preceded in death by her grandfathers Lewis K. Hinds and Zek Tharp, grandmother Carol Anne Allton. She is survived by her parents, Tammy and Tim Tharp, Ken and Marianne Hinds; children, Madison Daines (Adam Palmer), Payton Ashley (Todd Ashley), Kendra and Kiley Golke; grandparents, Joan Hinds, Richard Allton, Sr. and Ruthe Parsons; special friends, Todd Gobel and Tina Justice; and a host of many other friends and family who loved her. Heather loved her children and would have done anything for them. She enjoyed long talks with her grandmother, mom and daughter. She was a "free spirit" and had no problems speaking her mind. Heather was active in her youth and especially enjoyed camping, softball, gymnastics, music and dance. She was a Girl Scout earning the Silver and Gold Award. Heather was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Central Ohio Chapter. Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 2-4 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus NE Chapel, 3047 E. Barker, Carl  
Barker, Carl 1943 - 2018 Carl L. Barker, passed away April 16, 2018 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. He was born on March 6, 1943, to the late Ralph and Esther Barker. Carl was preceded in death by his brother John Barker and niece Nikki Turner. Carl leaves his loving wife of 36 years, Lynn Bruhn Barker; his five children, Carl Jr., Nathan (Leslie), Nickolas (Debbie), Reina Barker, and Rhonda (Kevin) Schiller; grandchildren, Michael (Jenna), Matthew, Mitchell, Madalyn, Louis, Jace, Cameron, Braden, McKenzie, Katelyn, and Tyler; his mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Robert Bruhn of St. Clairsville; the best sister-in-law, Pamela Bruhn of Blacklick; sister-in-law, Jane Barker; nephew, Michael (Tina) Barker; and will be sadly missed by his awesome neighbors and friends. Carl served four years in the U.S. Army. He retired from Trans World Airlines after 37 years of service and 10 years at Port Columbus Airfield Maintenance. He was an avid OSU, Pittsburgh Steelers, and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed his yardwork, gardening, and the beach. Arrangements were entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230, where a visitation will take place on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 1-4pm. Basbagill, Katie  
Basbagill, Katie 1982 - 2018 Katie N. Basbagill, 35, of Franklin, IN, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis, IN. She was born October 10, 1982 in Columbus, OH to Michael and Susan (Simmons) Basbagill. She was a 2001 graduate of Whiteland Community High School and a 2004 graduate of Liberty University. She was a freelance photo journalist. She had traveled to over fifty countries having worked for several nonprofits. She was an adventurous person enjoying music, dancing, the arts, and a good cup of coffee from Café Carlito's. Survivors include her three brothers, Lewis Basbagill (Julie), niece, Evie of Franklin, IN; David Basbagill (Rae), niece, Aria of Carmel, IN; Derek Basbagill (Jennifer), nephew, Zeke and niece, Zoey of Indianapolis, IN; her uncle and aunt who raised her, Ken and Debbie Stephens of Nineveh, IN; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Susan (Simmons) Basbagill and a brother Benjamin Joseph Basbagill. The Reverend Adam Tallent will conduct a graveside service Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11AM at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project Alianza, attention: The Katie N. Botts, Nellie  
Botts, Nellie 1926 - 2018 Nellie Botts (Capps), 91, passed peacefully April 18, at Tuscany Gardens. Nellie was born October 25, 1926 in Wheeling, W.Va., to Albert and Mazie Andrews Capps. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen Devine. Nellie loved to watch "her Buckeyes and NASCAR". She worked many years at Dunloe Elementary as a teacher's aide and was loved by many kids and teachers. They all called her "Grandma". This is where she learned to be a great hugger and a compassionate person. She lit up any room she entered with her smile. She is survived by son, Charles and Darlee (Mohn) of Granville; daughters, Christina and Steve Hettig of Minn., Donna and Steve Erdmanczyk of N.C.; leaving also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. We want to express our graditude to all the staff of Tuscany for the loving care they showed and all they did for Mom and us, "Thank You". Nellie donated her body to Ohio State Medical Research, as did her husband Charles W. No local services are planned. Ohio State will have a memorial in August 2019 for close friends and family. Donations in her name, can be made to Ohio State Anatomy Department or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
