Carl Fleetwood, 74, passed away January 4, 2014, due to complications from COPD.
The Guest Book is expired.
Services will be, Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the O'Malley Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Carl was born and raised in the Spokane area. He graduated from Mead High School in 1958. That summer he met the love of his life Elaine Fleetwood. He served in the Air Force from December 1958 - August 1962 in Iceland and Elemendorf AFB, AK where Elaine joined him and they were married on January 24, 1961. In August of 1962, they drove back to Washington where they made their home and started their family. Carls love of Alaska stayed with him and in 1970 he got a job with MUS in Fairbanks, AK as a telephone installer and in 1973 he was hired by ATU in Anchorage, AK where he retired in 1998.
He spent many hours hiking, fishing and hunting. He raced speed boats in the Chena River, enjoyed snow machining, 4-wheeling, fishing and camping with friends and family. His love of hiking never faded as he "walked the legs off" everyone in hunting camp each year. He and Elaine traveled a lot after he retired. They made a couple of road trips that took them from Alaska to Maine seeing friends, family and many amazing sights that they never dreamt they would ever get to see.
Carl renewed his relationship with Jesus and was re-baptized in June of 2010. He was a member of the O'Malley Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Carl is survived by his wife Elaine; his children: Rhonda and Mark Edge, Doug and Loan Fleetwood, Steve and Lela Fleetwood. His grandchildren: Joshua, Megan, Melissa, Keith, Emily, Elan, Mandy, Ethan. His brothers and sisters: Bill, Glen (Verna), Bonnie, Don (Sandy), Dick (Jean), Madeline (Eldon), Jerry (Susan), his Wilson brothers and sisters that he loved as if they were his own and many nephews, nieces and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Children's Tumor Foundation, ctf.org or the Anchorage Rescue Mission.
