Chauncina Marie Bourdukofsky, 70, passed away June 1, 2014 at the Alaska Native Medical Center, in Anchorage, Alaska, from metastatic breast cancer. She was born Novermber 19, 1943 in Cheyenne Agency, South Dakota. She became a resident of St. Paul, Alaska in 1967.

A public visitation will be held June 6, 2014, 2 p.m.-3 p.m., St. Innocent's Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 401 Turpin St. A panikhida service will follow the visitation at 3 p.m., Father John Zabinko will be officiating. Pallbearers consist of Colton St. John, Jason Jr., Ben, Mark, George Bourdukofsky, Jeremy Philemonoff, Kyle Bergo, Dan Henry, and Brian McIntire. She will be laid to rest on St. Paul Island.

In the 1960's Chauncina was employed with the Aleut community of St. Paul Tribe. October 1979 she became the City Manager of St. Paul. From May 16, 1984 - October 2, 1999 she worked for the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association. Chauncina was affiliated with St. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church and St. Innocent's Russian Orthodox Church. Her hobbies consisted of arts & crafts, spending time with grandchildren and family, traveling, and attending powwows. Chauncina very willingly and with love opened her home to numerous Aleut youths in St. Paul and Anchorage.

The family would like to state, "Chauncina was a strong educational advocate, very sweet, kind, gentle hearted & always had a pantry full of snacks for her grandchildren; professional skip-bo player; loved Hawaiian music; and well-traveled. As a Lakota woman from South Dakota, she loved and served the Aleut people and became very knowledgeable on many Aleut family histories. Chauncina was great at planning events, good listener and financially savvy. She was a very faithful and loyal woman to God, family and community.

Chauncina is survived by her husband, Jason Bourdukofsky, Sr. of 47 years of St. Paul Island; daughters, Tara Bourdukofsky and Connie (Kyle) Bergo and Binni Bourdukofsky(Neon Jr.); sons, Jason (Stacey) Bourdukofsky, Jr. and Ben (Jules) Bourdukofsky; grandsons, Colton St. John, Gregory Bourdukofsky, Chauncey Demientieff, Miles Bourdukofsky, Jason Bourdukofsky, III, and Gunnar Iron Wing Bergo; granddaughters, Haley St. John, Alexia Crow Feather Zacharof, and Evdokia Marie Bourdukofsky; brother, Joseph Jones; sisters-in-law, Mat. Kathy Bourdukofsky, Sam Bourdukofsky, Brenda Jones, and Barbara Iron Wing; brothers-in-law, Eugene Bourdukofsky, Sr., Thomas Bourdukofsky, Greg Fratis, Sr., and Dennis Bourdukofsky; Aunts, Isabell Crow Feather and Melda Crow Feather-Howard; Aunt Jackie and Uncle Chuck Gilmore; Indian Siblings, Leatrice Penny, Yvonne Garreaux, and Floyd Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews, god children, and foster children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Chauncey and Marie Iron Wing; brothers, Louis Jones, George Iron Wing and Larry Iron Wing.; father/mother-in-law, George and Mary N. Bourdukofsky; brother-in-law, Father Peter Bourdukofsky; and sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Fratis, Mary Janice Bourdukofsky, and niece Veronica Fratis.
