Petty Officer 1st Class David Lee Richardson, born 6/6/1943 died peacefully at his home on 1/21/2013 at the age of 69. David moved to Alaska in the Spring of 1980 with his family from Havana, IL. David is survived by his wife and lifelong love, Judy; his children, Dana and husband Nathan, Herb and his wife Diane, Carl and his wife Teresa, and his grandchildren Tara, Jessiah, Jared, Jacob, and Riley. He is also survived by his siblings, Phyllis and Bob Koch, Joe and Glenda Towery Jr., Debbie and Daryl Pierce, and John Towery. He is preceded in death by his mother, Iona, his father Carl Sr. who died in WWII, his dad Joe Towery Sr., and one brother, Carl Vincent.
David served in the military for 14 years beginning his career at the age of 16. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart medal. David was a vibrant person living life with the driven force and purpose that would pave the way to contentment and peace in his recent years. David was a wonderful husband and devoted father and grandfather. His tremendous love for his wife and family will no doubt leave a huge hole in the heart of his family. He was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. David's ashes will remain with the family until the time comes when Judy will join her beloved husband. Together they will be scattered in the Little Su.
