Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Bayshore Clubhouse, 3131 Amber Bay Loop, Anchorage with Dan Buckwalter officiating. Potluck will follow. Casketbearers will be Nick III, Robby, Rengae, and William Christensen, Jeffry Orloff, and Nickolis Lessemen. Honorary Casketbearers are Macarlo, Nick and Bobby Christensen and Micarlo Kalmakoff. Burial will be at Ft Richardson National Cemetery.
Elaine was born May 26, 1944 in Illnik, AK to Nick and Matluna (Willie) Christensen. She married Michael E Holm on November 3, 1971 in Anchorage. The couple resided at Sawyer AFB until 1981 when they moved to Port Heiden. She was a lifelong commercial fisherman, a beautician and for Lake and Peninsula School District she worked as a cook from 1983-1986, as a substitute teacher from 1983-1989 and as a busdriver in 2011. Elaine was also employed by Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation first as a Health Aide then as a CHAP field coordinator from 1983-2011.
Her family wrote: "Elaine was dedicated to her family and would do anything for anybody in need. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, shopping, berry picking and other subsistence and above all Jesus. She will be dearly missed by many people she loved, taught, and influenced throughout the state. Rest in Paradise."
Elaine is survived by her husband, Michael, Wasilla; children and their spouses, Annie (Cliff) Young, Eagle River; John (Doreen) Holm, Sr, Wasilla and Terry (Danesa) Holm, Anchorage; grandchildren, Roger and Matthew Beattie, John and Robert Dundas; Katelynn and Lydia Heinrich; Samantha, Tabitha and Sabrina, John Holm, Jr; Teddy and Darian Shangin, Tia and Ava Holm, Kaden and Nikolai Orloff; two great grandsons, Colton and Braydon and one great granddaughter; her siblings and their spouses, Macarlo Christensen; Nick (Amelia) Christensen,Jr; Robert (Ann Tinker) Christensen; Micarlo Kalmakoff; and Nina "Christy" Lessemen; and sister-in-law, Annie Christensen. Elaine is also survived by nieces, Maranda Shade and Larissa Orloff whom she helped raise and was a mother figure to, as well as many, many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her son, Nick Holm; and a stillborn son; grandson, Benjamin Beattie; her parents, Nick and Matluna Christensen; brothers, John Christensen, I; Terry Christensen and Raymond Christensen; sisters, Maryanne and Martha Christensen and sister-in-law, Laura Christensen.
