Frederick "Matu" Marvin Loon, 44, died on May 4, 2014, in Anchorage, Alaska. A viewing will be at 3 p.m. with service at 4 p.m. on Friday May 9th at Legacy Witzleben Funeral Home, located at 1707 S. Bragaw Street in Anchorage. Pallbearers; John Loon, Edward Loon Jr., Jamie Loon, Harold Loon, Sam Ballot, Richard Berry, Marvin Berry and Wallace Grey. He will be buried in Selawik Cemetery in Selawik, Alaska.

"Matu" was born on April 14, 1970, to Edward Sr and Helen Loon in Kotzebue, Alaska. He graduated from Selawik High School where lived and was a talented master carver. He also lived in Anchorage and was a member of Friends Church.

His family stated, "Matu was very talented, he was a master carver and firefighter for the Bureau of Land Management. You can see his art work on display at the Alaska Native Medical Center."

He is survived by his parents, Edward Loon Sr and Helen Loon; his sisters, Bertha (Jimmy) Hugh, Susie Loon, Emma (Chris) Murphy; brothers, John Loon, Edward Loon Jr (Keandra Komakhuk), Jamie Loon (Lona Norton) and Harold Loon; grandmother, Clara Ballot; aunties, Hannah Loon, Elleanor Jackson, Hazel Westlake, Hannah Wood; uncles, Isaac Ballot, Henry Jackson, Calvin Westlake, Clarence Wood; cousins, Susie Ballot and The Berry Boys.
