James passed peacefully at home in Surprise, Arizona with his loving wife Nancy at his side. Born in 1929 in Wellington Missouri, he served Honorably in the U.S. Navy and Air Force. He came to Alaska in 1953, Married his Sweetheart Nancy Fink, on March 10th 1956. James joined the Anchorage Fire Department in 1957 and served 21 years. Retired as Anchorage Fire Marshal in 1979 James was proceeded in death by his Grandson Harley Franklin Dicus. He leaves his wife Nancy; and their four sons and wives James and Teresa, Thomas and Wendy, David and Pearl, and Robert and Jeannie. Grandchildren Justin Dicus, Jennifer Dancer, Thomas Dicus, Katie Dicus, Emily Dicus, Angela Dicus, Sara Dicus; and great grandchildren Karlin, Zoe and Eli. He also leaves his brother Jack Dicus of Ormand, Beach FL. James spent his retirement years visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed model ship building and wood carving. James lived his life with integrity and honor and was a hero to his family. He will be interned at Fort Richardson Cemetery, June 16th, At 1:30 p.m.
