Kenneth A. Browning, 61, passed away in Anchorage on May 5, 2014. He was born April 13, 1953 in Scobey, Montana, and raised in Everett, Washington. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country honorably. He became a resident of Anchorage in 1976.

Ken was a loving father and a caring husband. He enjoyed helping people, rebuilding classic cars, traveling and swapping stories with a host of friends. He was quick with a quip, could find humor in almost any situation, and had an endless supply of funny stories he would use to brighten a newcomer's mood. He was a kind and thoughtful man who helped out anyone he could, and did so without hesitation. Countless friends and acquaintances have many fond memories of Ken. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Irina Browning (Filippenko) and daughter Arina Filippenko of Anchorage, son Lucas Browning of Wasilla, brother Gordon Browning of Everett, WA and brother Wayne Browning of San Carlos, CA; and numerous friends and extended family members in Alaska and the Lower 48.

He was preceded in death by his mother Elsye Browning (Huddleston), his adoptive father Dale Browning and his biological father Vernon Vanderpan.

A service with military honors will be held at Fort Richardson National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Please meet at the Ft. Richardson gate off the Glenn Highway at 1:00 p.m. to form the procession. A potluck/celebration of life will follow at the Alano Club, 3103 Spenard Rd, Anchorage at 3:00 p.m.
