Place, WA. He was born on August 21, 1929 in Tiffin, Ohio to Darl Jay and Pauline (Chester) Miller.
Robert served our country in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. After retiring from
his military career, he went on to work in Food Services and served in several positions, ending as Food Services Manager for the State of Alaska Correctional Facilities in Anchorage. He retired in March 1986.
While stationed in Germany he met and fell in love with his future wife, Edi ( Edith ).
They were married on July 22, 1958. Robert is survived by his loving wife Edith and daughters Virginia, Debbie and son Bobby. There are many he touched, along the way whether family or friends. He will be dearly missed.
Following his retirement, he and Edith traveled all over the U.S. in their motorhome enjoying the different sites, people and time with each other. Robert's hobbies include cooking, traveling and fishing. He also enjoyed
camping with family and friends. As Dad would say, he has never met a fish he didn't get along with. No matter how small or large, they all had smiles on their faces, the biggest smile was on Dad.
This is Dad's very special poem:
If tears could build a stairway, memories a lane, I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.
Family memorial services will be held at his favorite fishing spot in Alaska.
We would like to thank Mike Manns ( Manns Charter Service ) for taking us there.
Please send donations to: Franciscan Hospice ( for their wonderful help and care ), 2901 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, Washington 98466
