Royal Camero Obituary

Royal Del Fierro Camero was born on Feb. 6, 1945, and died peacefully in his sleep at home on Jan. 30, 2017. He was born in a U.S. Army MASH unit in Bolinao, Pangasinan, and named after the American Military Doctor who delivered him.
He immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in 1971, as a Professional Engineer, but instead joined the U.S. Army. He moved to Alaska and served as a Specialist 5, Army Engineer for 23rd Engineer Company AL, station at Fort Richardson from 1971 through 1974. After he was honorably discharged from military service, he continued to work as a Civil/Structural Engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District. He medically retired due to ataxia (atrophy of the cerebellum) in 1995.
Roy was a family man who also loved to fish, hunt, go crabbing, camping and spending time with his kids and family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by Mabelita S. Camero; children, Gevan, Rafaeliza and Charlie Valdehueza and Royaldo and Sharon Camero; and grandchildren, Gabriel, Charliza and Genika-Marie; his older siblings, Nestor and Toshi of Toronto, Canada, and Susan Ylo of Manila, Philippines; mother-in-law, Rafaela Sipin; in-laws, Milo and Tessa Reyes, Imelda Sipin, Cleo and Angie Sipin, JR and Marisa Villanueva, Ching Estrella, Glen and Pilita Bridel, Bong and Anna Sipin, Edgar and Tina Villegas and Beth Sipin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Venancio Cielo Camero and Feliza Magsaysay Del Fierro of Bolinao, Pangasinan, Philippines; and his two infant granddaughters, Raquel and Auribel Marie Camero.
Viewing will be at 10 a.m., and followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 825 Klevin Street in Anchorage, Alaska, on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall after services.
