Vicki Elaine Schaumburg Byrum, 64, passed away at Providence Alaska Medical Center on December 3, 2012.

Vicki was born on November 24, 1948 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She moved to Anchorage in 1978 with her former husband, Bill Byrum.

Vicki worked at Beef & Sea, Golden Lion, Director of Catering at West Coast International Inn, Catering Sales Manager at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel, Director of Catering at Marx Bros Cafe, and owner-operator of Scoots Express.

Vicki was a member of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, Post 49, Women of the Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles #4207 and former member and President of NACE.

Vicki enjoyed softball, bowling, darts, dancing, gardening, and camping.

Vicki was enthusiastic, energetic and "high-on-life." She had a sense of humor and a positive attitude. There was never a dull moment when Vicki was around. She made people smile and feel good about themselves. Vicki was cherished and loved by all who knew her - as a loving mother and friend.

Vicki was preceded in death by her daughter Michelle Lynn (Mitchell) Byrum; her father Chester A. Schaumburg; mother Blanche A. Cerny Schaumburg and sister-in-law Denae' J. Helmick Schaumburg.

Vicki is survived by her daughter Christina Byrum and her husband Gerald Dirks of Anchorage; sisters Peggy Williams - Gillespie and husband Gilbert of Albuquerque, NM, Lori Downey of Ida Grove, IA; brothers Ronald Schaumburg and wife Robin of Eagle Grove, IA, John Schaumburg of Albuquerque, NM; special friend Randy Fuller and many other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Community Church, 4301 Mountain View Drive, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 15th and a Celebration of Life on Sunday, December 16th at the Anchorage Historic Hotel, 330 E Street, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Arrangements were entrusted to Kehl's Legacy Funeral Home.
