Anne Walker Chestnut Bartlett passed from this world to be with God on June 5th. Born in 1924 and raised in Sturgis Michigan, she later attended Michigan State University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Upon his return from the Navy, Anne married C. Philip Bartlett on May 22, 1948 - they just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. They raised two daughters, Deborah Robina, an Executive Senior Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics and Sara Bartlett Young, former Director of Education and Outreach at South Bend Civic Theatre. Anne is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Anne cared deeply about church, social needs and sorority outreach. She was a founding member of the Birmingham Congregational Church in MI, an active member of Stanley UCC in Chatham NJ and was also involved at The Community Church of Vero Beach FL where she and Phil were a key part of the children's tutoring program. Anne held integral leadership positions all of her adult life at both the national and local levels of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Her passions included spending time with her family, playing bridge and enjoying the Jersey Shore.
A wise and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4pm on Monday June 16th including a brief service at 3pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home 2028 Highway 35 Wall, NJ 07719. There will be a second service celebrating Anne's life this coming fall held in Vero Beach FL.
