Caesar M. Chiaia, 86, of Aberdeen, NJ, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2013. Caesar was a veteran of the US Navy, serving honorably during WWII. He worked for the NY Times for 41 years and began his career as a roadman and retired as a circulation manager. Caesar was a parishioner of St. Benedict's Church in Holmdel and a member of The St. Benedict's Knight of Columbus. In his free time, Caesar enjoyed arts and crafts, telling stories and jokes with his family and friends.
Caesar is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Rose Chiaia (Cotrone); His 3 daughters, Mary Anne Alfano and her late husband Jim, Theresa Chiaia and Phyllis Savio and her husband Frank; His son, Michael Chiaia; Also survived by his sister Carmel Hehn, his "Goumba" Vinny Tedeschi and his wife Phyllis, his grandsons, James, Nicholas, Andrew, Matthew, Michael, Stephen and John and his granddaughter, Taylor and his late granddaughter, Nicole.
The family will receive their relatives and friends at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ on Tuesday, January 8th from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 8pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Benedict's Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel on Wednesday, January 9th at 10:30am. An interment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery.
