Charles "Chuck" A. Geran, 85, of Howell, passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Manor, Wall on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Chuck was born in Brooklyn, raised in Morganville on the Glen Geran Farm and had lived in Matawan before moving to Howell in 1984. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran during World War II serving as a meteorologist. Chuck was a graduate of Rutgers College. He was the owner and a broker of the Ralston Insurance Agency, Neptune. Chuck was a member of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Matawan. Chuck loved to play sports and umpire. He was a member of the Peddie Alumni and also a member of their Hall of Fame.
Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Lysbeth Geran; and a brother, Thomas Geran. He is survived by his companion, Olive M. Fiore of Howell; a daughter, Lysbeth G. Brogan and her husband, James of Allentown; four sons, Charles A. Geran Jr. and his wife, Linda of Toms River, Thomas W. Geran and his wife, Doreen of Matawan, Robert J. Geran and his wife, Lucia of Brick, and John J. Geran of Matawan; eight grandchildren, Tia McLaughlin and her husband, Robert, Tara Weber and her husband, Andrew, Charles A. Geran III, Gregory Geran, Daniel Geran, Felicia Geran, Robert J. Geran Jr., and Alyson Rafanelli and her husband, Dominick; four great-grandchildren, Bailey and RJ McLaughlin and Kate and Emma Weber; and his sister, Barbara Dougherty of Syracuse, NY.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment to follow in the Brig. General William C.
