David Forbes McQueen Wallis, Jr.

AGE: 82 • Brick

David Forbes McQueen Wallis, Jr., age 82, of Brick NJ, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014. Born in New York City on December 28, 1931, David grew up in Teaneck, NJ and moved with his family to the Jersey Shore in the late 1940s. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and upon completion of his duty began working as an Operating Engineer for Local Union 825, proudly earning his 50 Years of Membership Pin. David was a faithful member of The First Baptist Church of Laurelton in Brick, serving as a Deacon and Trustee for over forty years. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America, starting first as a Troop Leader in the 1960's and remained on as the Charter Representative for Troop 39 of Brick until 2011. David's favorite pastime was fishing and he enjoyed countless days' surf casting along the beaches of Point Pleasant as well as fluking off the coastline in his boat, Sundancer, with family and friends. David will long be remembered for his great kindness and generosity towards others, and especially his family.

A devoted husband and father, David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy; his four children, David Wallis and his wife Evelyn, Cheryl Mulligan and her husband Lawrence, Gail Hascha and her husband Richard, and Linda Krywinski and her husband Bruce. He also leaves behind his ten loving grandchildren, Brittany, Ian, Bruce, Erin, Michaela, David H., David M., Alex, Connor, and Matthew.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 5, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 6, 2014, at 10 am at The First Baptist Church of Laurelton, 1836 Rt. 88, Brick, with interment immediately following. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial donations to The First Baptist Church of Laurelton.
