David John Morrissey

David John Morrissey, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, after a brave five year battle with Lewy Body Disease. He was born Nov. 24, 1946 in Butler, PA to John and Charlotte, now deceased. After graduating from Mars High School, Dave entered Rider College and then enlisted in the Air Force. After serving four years as a cryptographer, he completed his bachelor and master's degree at Monmouth College.

David worked for A.I.G in New York developing new insurance programs with the Japanese traveling extensively throughout the U.S. and Japan. He left to head up the mortgage insurance market with Americans Bankers in Miami, Florida winning awards for top sales market. Dave left the corporate world to open dry cleaning stores but retired early at 62 when his health began to fail.

David was an avid golfer admired by many for his skill and love of the game. He loved jogging, playing tennis, basketball, and miniature golf tournaments with his wife and kids which included friendly competition and much laughter. He was in his glory when his beloved Steelers ruled football with their 4 ring dynasty.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dolores ( Connor); his son, Brian and wife Jill and their son Max; his daughter, Erin Winters and husband Shawn, their daughters, Emma and Lindsey; his son, Timothy and his partner Jenna Brannick. Also surviving are his brother, Daniel and wife Cynthia; sister, Diana; and brother-in-law John Connor and wife Marina and sister-in-law, Nancy Connor (wife of deceased James Connor); brother-in-law, John Connor and wife Tina; sister-in-law, Patricia Deponti and husband Steven; brother-in-law, Michael Connor and wife Dale; brother-in-law, Timothy Connor and wife Lori, and many nieces and nephews.

David was blessed with the gift of fun and laughter. His dry wit and teasing drew everyone to him. He loved life and believed in the good in everyone. His family was everything to him and felt he was the luckiest of men. Life was perfect for David when he was with his family sitting on the beach with a football game on the radio, a cold beer and his feet in the other sand. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

David was reposing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home, 1735 Route 35, Middletown. Entombment to take place at 10 a.m. Friday morning, Jan. 3 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
