Edward C. Brodeur, 82, of Whiting, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, surrounded by his family. Born in Bloomfield, he lived in Point Pleasant Beach prior to moving to Whiting 9 years ago. He was a supervisor for Esso in the heating division before starting Brodeur and Sons Heating and Cooling which he ran until his retirement. Edward served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was affectionately known as the "Old Guy". He was a member of the American Legion Post #196 and was very involved with the Point Pleasant Beach Little League. Edward was also an honorary member of the Point Pleasant Beach Fire Department and was involved in the Point Pleasant Beach High School Booster Association. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing, bird-watching, bowling and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in Point Pleasant Beach.
Edward is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann (Flanagan) Brodeur; four sons and one daughter, Ned Brodeur and his wife Sherri of Brick, Stephen Brodeur and his wife Karen of Point Pleasant Beach, Paul Brodeur and his wife Susan of Minnesota, Cindyjean Brodeur of Point Pleasant, and Michael Brodeur and his wife Dawn of Point Pleasant Beach; one sister, Irene Sincox and her husband George of Red Bank; 12 grandchildren, Nicole, Alicia Duane and her husband Jesse, Christine, Jennifer Stately and her husband Anthony, Andrew, Brooke, Matthew, Bryan, Christopher, Abbey, Sarah and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Brianna.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A funeral mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30 at St. Peter's R.C. Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's name to Deborah Hospital Foundation, PO Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015 would be appreciated.
