Edward F. Walsh, 75, of Beachwood, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, surrounded by his loving family near his side. Edward "Eddie" was born in Jersey City, where he graduated from Saint Michael's High School as an outstanding track star, still holding records that haven't been beat. Eddie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country from 1956-1960. He & wife, Maureen made the move to Beachwood in 1974, where they raised their family of three children and one grandson. After working for the Toms River Regional Schools District, he retired in 2001 allowing more time to spend with family & friends, staying active and fit & enjoying more of his favorite sports teams the New York Giants & New York Yankees. Ed is a member of the Tin Can Sailors, the Knights of Columbus and an avid contributor to many different organizations.
Edward was predeceased by his loving daughter, Erin Eileen. Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Maureen; two sons, Christopher of Beachwood, and Shawn of Philadelphia, PA; and grandson, Ryan James of Beachwood. Eddie has one brother, William J. Walsh and his wife Joyce of Toms River; two sisters, Judith Corbliss of Hasbrouck Heights, and Eileen Barnes and her husband Robert of Toms River, along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 16 and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 17 at Carmona-Bolen Home For Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River. A Celebratory Mass of Ed's life will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 17 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Toms River, followed by a veteran burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to Deborah Hospital Foundation.
