Ehman R. Van Biert

AGE: 82 • Toms River

Ehman R. Van Biert, 82, of Toms River, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick after a 4 year courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born in Clifton, where he resided before moving to Toms River. Ehman was a United States Navy veteran and had served with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary 16-05 for 49 years. He was in Executive Sales with General Motors, Cadillac Motor Car Division, working in several different areas in New Jersey before his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Justin's R.C. Church, where he also served as an usher. He was a lifetime member of the Gold Crest Club, member of the International Game Fishing Association, NJ Department of Environmental Division of Wildlife, and being an avid fisherman he loved to fish at the Hudson Canyon. He was involved in Homeland Security, loved to cruise the Caribbean and had sailed over 50 cruises. As a hobby he loved to refurbish old Lionel Trains and was an avid New York Ranger Fan.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 61 years, Catherine Soderstrom Van Biert; his son, Keith and his fiancée Cindy Weglarz; his daughter, Wendy Lee Brigandi and her husband Robert; his sister, Susan Ventimiglia; and cherished grandchildren, Jillian, Justin, Lauren and Evan.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 5 at St. Justin's R.C. Church, Toms River; arrive at the funeral home 10 a.m. Entombment will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.
