Dr. Gerald Gildenberg, age 69, passed away at home on Sunday, September 1. Dr. Gildenberg attended Rutgers University and was a member of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity. He graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1968. He served as a captain in the United States Air Force at the Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona.
Dr. Gildenberg practiced dentistry with his father, Dr. Boris Gildenberg, in Union, New Jersey before opening his own practice in Wall Township in 1973. He was on the staff at Jersey Shore University Hospital, where he served as staff president and was named Attending Physician of the Year in 2007. He was also past president of the Kiwanis. Dr. Gildenberg was a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, becoming a fellow in 1986 and a Masters in 2003. In addition, he sat on the Board of Directors of the NJAGD until the present, and contributed many articles to their journal "Wisdom." He was presented with the LLSR given to members who have earned the association's highest honor of Mastership. Dr. Gildenberg was also a talented photographer, artist, and musician, playing the flute for twenty-seven years in the Jersey Shore Concert Band. He also loved scuba diving.
Dr. Gildenberg leaves behind Estelle, his beloved wife of forty-six years , and their two daughters, Lisa Liebman, who resides in Michigan with her husband Jeff and twins Madison and Matthew, and Lauren Spiegel, who lives in North Carolina with husband Scott and sons Max and Ben.
