Gerald Joseph Widawsky

Gerald Joseph Widawsky, 89, of Westlake Mews, Jackson, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, from natural causes. Gerald was born on Feb. 13, 1924 in Newburgh, NY to Bernard and Sally Widawsky. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY prior to enlisting in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Widawsky served as a lieutenant for 2 years, as a navigator in a B-17 in the European Theater before he was shot down on his 34th, and final mission over Germany in 1945 where he was a POW until the end of the war. Mr. Widawsky became an electrical engineer after graduating from the University of Texas and worked for Lockheed/Martin prior to starting his own electronics company, Solitronics and later Electrosolids. Later in life, he became a marketing consultant forming Creative Marketing Concepts.

Mr. Widawsky is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Joan Widawsky; and his four children, Sally and Ed Rosiek, William and Melanie Widawsky, Diane and Don Dorau, and Tom and Danielle Widawsky. He also has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
