Gunther "Hank" Bauer, 81 years old, of Sea Girt, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013. Born in Princeton, grew up in Somerville, moving here 25 years ago. He graduated from Somerville HS. An Army Veteran during the Korean War and received four medals of Honor. A lifelong baker, he worked at the All Seasons Restaurant.
The hardest working man, most graceful hands, ALL enjoyed the desserts of his labor. He was a gentle, kind soul and loved his family tremendously. He enjoyed baking, his boat, fishing, country music and John Wayne movies. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edith and Henry Bauer. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of 56 years; five children, four grandchildren and two brothers: son Eric and his wife Elizabeth, their daughters Rebecca and Rachel; son Mark and wife Lisa; son Karl and his daughter Samantha; daughter Regina and husband Johnny, their son Wyatt; and baby daughter Maria; his brothers, Wolfgang and Walter.
Visiting will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, with a funeral service to follow at 5 p.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall. The committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
