Harold H. Hunley, Sr.

Matawan

Harold H. Hunley, Sr. of Matawan, NJ, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014. He was born on August 26, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Thomas and Ruby Hunley. He served in the U.S. Army as an evacuation medic and infantry soldier during the Korean War. As a result of his outstanding service, Harold was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, two Silver Stars, a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was also a member and Deacon of Wicker Memorial Baptist Church, Morganville, NJ. He was honored by his church family in June of this year for 70 years of dedicated service.

Mr. Hunley leaves to mourn his wife of 61 years, Lorraine Hunley; two children, Denise Hunley and Harold Hunley, Jr.; two grandchildren, seven siblings, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held for Mr. Hunley from 10:00am until noon on Wednesday at Wicker Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at noon. Rev. Joseph Pickett will officiate. Childs Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements.
