AGE: 73 • Brick

Helen V. O'Malley Steakin, 73, of Brick, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 5, 2014. Born and raised in New York City, Helen worked for Blacker & Kooby before moving to Brick in 2001. Helen was involved with the Brick Senior Outreach Nutrition Program for several years. She was also a member of St. Justin's Catholic Church of Toms River. Helen will be welcomed at Heaven's gate by her beloved husband, Edward M. Steakin, Sr. and son, Edward M. Steakin, Jr.

Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Bill Richter, Tracy Steakin and Ricky Zyrski; seven grandchildren, William and his wife Amy Pecora, Anthony Pecora, Michele Pecora, Thomas Dietz, Michael Dietz, Brandon Zyrski, and Nicole Zyrski; five great-grandchildren, Anthony, Brayden and Andrew Pecora, Adriana and Nevin Hart. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She lived life to the fullest, touched many people's lives and told it like it was..."Not for nothin!"

A celebration of her life will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Breast Cancer Society in Helen's memory to Central and South Jersey, 2 Princess Road, Suite D, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
