AGE: 96 • formerly of Beach Haven
James Clifford Adams, 96, of Clifton, formerly of New York City, N.Y. and Beach Haven, NJ, died peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the Hospice of New Jersey, Wayne. He graduated from New York University Summa Cum Laude in 1935, receiving his BS degree. He then graduated from Harvard Law School in 1938. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. After the war, he was an attorney for the Office of General Council of the Department of the Navy, Regional Council for the North East Region, Staten Island, N.Y. from 1946-1982, when he retired. He was past president of the Webster's Lagoons Assoc. of Beach Haven, the Beach Haven Exchange Club and the Jewish Community Center of Long Beach Island. He was a member of the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of 71 years (nee Richmond); his son, Dr. David James Adams and wife Stephanie of Bal Harbor, Fla.; daughter, Judith Ellen Anderson and husband Daniel of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, David Scott Adams, Keith Anthony Adams and Evan Jay Anderson; and one great-granddaughter, Willa A. Adams.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 15 at Jewish Memorial Chapel, 841 Allwood Road, Clifton. Interment at the Sanctuary of Abraham & Sarah, Paramus. Donations in his memory may be made to the Harvard Law School or to the United States Navy Memorial.
