On January 21, 2013, James J. Lennon, 84, went to be with the Lord and was welcomed into the presence of God by his loving wife Aleda and eldest daughter Kathleen. Jim, also known as Slim, was born in Paterson, raised in Clifton and moved to Brick Township in 1952. He loved being a lineman and supervisor for NJ Bell his entire adult life. He was a member of the Brick Elks and served as an Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of the Pioneers of America. He loved woodworking, family, camping, boating and the NY Giants. He was a dedicated Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather who always put family first. He was very active in his youth and excelled in football. Jim was also a Veteran of the Korean War who served in both the Air Force and Army.
Jim was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Lee in 2001 and his eldest daughter, Kathy in 2002. Jim will be greatly missed by his son, James Jr. and wife Vivian of Brick and his two daughters, Margaret and her husband Arnold Thomas Sr. of North Carolina and Shannon Lennon of Alabama. Jim also leaves behind his son-in-law, Timothy Burt of Toms River. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Aleda, Kelli, James III, Arnold, Amy, April, Jacob and Isabella. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing hours will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick, from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. The Brick Elks will have a service Friday at 8:00pm. A funeral service will be offered on Friday at 8:30pm. Cremation will be private. Jim will be greatly missed by all.
