James Joseph "Jim" Nolan

James Joseph "Jim" Nolan, 90, of Spring Lake passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at The Wexford at Wall, an assisted living facility. Jim was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, and from Purdue University with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He attended the Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy obtaining a degree in Naval Engineering and a Commission in the Navy followed by a shipboard tour of the Pacific during WWII. He proudly served another tour of service in the US Navy during the Korean War. Following his military service, he became a project engineer for the Lilly Tulip Cup Corp., in Long Island, NY, staying with the company when it was sold to the Dixie Cup Corp. Jim then accepted a production management position with the US Envelope Co. in Springfield, MA where he worked for many years. Jim and his wife Eileen retired to the Cherry Hill area, later moving to South Hampton, NJ where they lived for 18 years. Upon the death of his wife, Jim moved to The Wexford at Wall in 2002. Jim enjoyed traveling with family especially to Ireland and England. He was a member of St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, Sea Girt.

Jim was predeceased by the love of his life, Eileen Bradley Nolan in 2001. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Cathleen and Peter Paternostro of Wyckoff, NJ; Nancy Nolan and Bill O'Brien of Sea Girt, NJ; Timothy B. and Barbara Nolan of Bonita Springs, FL; Neil and Leticia Nolan of Sun Lakes, AZ; Elizabeth Nolan of Brookline, MA and his two grandchildren, Bradley and Brendan Paternostro of Wyckoff, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 9:30am at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, 215 Crescent Parkway, Sea Girt, NJ. No prior visitation will take place. Burial will follow in the Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Drive, Suite 206, North Hollywood, CA 91607-3421.
