James "Jim" P. Coughlin, 84 of Middletown, passed away at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014. Born in New York, Jim has lived in Middletown, NJ for the past 55 years. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Red Bank. Jim retired as office manager at the Union Pacific Railroad after 40 years of service. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Anne Coughlin; sisters, Sr. Mary Coughlin and Margaret Carney and daughter Mary Ann. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Coughlin and a son, Jim Coughlin of Middletown, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jim enjoyed many winters in Florida since his retirement. He will be remembered for his yearly reunions of family and friends at his home.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, corner of Bridge Ave. and Chestnut St., Red Bank. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
