James T. Christie, 92, of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Passaic, he moved to Toms River in 1961. James was a mechanic for the Department of Transportation in Toms River prior to his retirement. James proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during WWII on Iwo Jima where he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the D.A.V. in Toms River, American Legion, John Wesley Taylor Post 232 in Barnegat, Pleasant Plains First Aid Squad, and Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
James was predeceased by his wife, Mary E. Christie in 2004. Surviving are his son, James A. Christie, and his daughters, Mary L. Christie, and Jayne E. Christie, all of Toms River. Also surviving is his sister, Elizabeth Bloom of Clifton.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, with a religious service at 10 a.m. at Carmona-Bolen Home For Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River.
