John G. (Jack) Helmstetter, 75, of Daytona Beach, Fla., died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach. He was born in Newark, NJ and lived in Brick for 34 years before retiring to Daytona Beach, Fla. in 2001, where he was a member of the Club at Pelican Bay and was an avid golfer. He owned and operated Lavallette Hardware Store for 14 years. He was a communicant of St. Dominic's Church, Brick and served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960.
Surviving is his wife, Dorothy Fauth Helmstetter; six children, Catherine Honsinger and her husband Bill, Williamsburg, VA, Jack Helmstetter Jr. and his wife Sandy, Elaine Thompson and her husband Jeffrey, Nancy DeVogel and her husband Bill, all of Brick, Raymond of Toms River, and Richard and his wife Susan of Hazlet; 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick. A funeral mass will be held 9 a.m. Friday, April 5 at St. Dominic's R.C. Church, Brick. Interment will follow at N.J. Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
