John "Jack" Vayda, 74, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013. Born in Bound Brook, John lived in Manville before moving to Lavallette. He served in the U.S. Navy and later went on to work as an Engineer for Research Cottrell for 25 years. John was a passionate fisherman and hunter and was loved by everyone he touched. He moved permanently to Lavallette 18 years ago drawn to the town by the beautiful beach and love of the water. John would always be seen on his bike or catching fish on his pride and joy "The Summer Mistress."
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eileen; his two sons, John and his wife Diane and Mark and his wife Michelle; four grandchildren, Amy, Matt, Bryan and Nicholas; his brother, Robert and his niece that he considered his own daughter, Donna Pasquerella.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 809 Central Ave., Seaside Park. The committal is private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in John's memory to the Union Church of Lavallette, 25 Philadelphia Ave., Lavallette, NJ 08735.
