AGE: 65 • Union Beach

Joseph J. Maklowski Jr., 65, of Union Beach, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Joseph was born on Dec. 18, 1948 in Long Branch and grew up and lived his entire life in Union Beach. He was a graduate of Keyport HS, class of 1966. Throughout his adult life, Joseph worked for IFF in Hazlet and was also an exempt longtime member of the Union Beach Fire Co. #1. Joseph was also a proud U.S. Army veteran, where he served during the Vietnam War. He had a great appreciation for nature and was a lover of all animals. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary (Petkefegg) Maklowski and Joseph J. Maklowski Sr.; his sister, Mary Bailey, and his father-in-law, Harry Caullett Sr. Joseph is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 31 years, Debra (Caullett) Maklowski; his loving children, Amanda DeWan and her husband George of Union Beach, Joseph M. Maklowski and his companion Liz Hopkins of Union Beach, and Kevin Maklowski of Union Beach; his dear sister, Florence Bracken and her husband Richard of Union Beach; his dear brother, Edward P. Maklowski his wife Deborah of Ellicot City, MD, along with his mother-in-law, Carolyn Caullett; his brothers-in-law, Harry Caullett and his wife Paula, and William Bailey; his cherished granddaughter, Brienna "Brie-D." DeWan, and many adored nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Family and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet. The Union Beach Fire Co. #1, firemen's service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at approx 8 p.m. In respect of Joseph's wishes, he will be privately cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Joseph to any "No-kill" animal shelter of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
