Maurice DeGennaro, 86, of Hazlet, NJ died on January 8, 2014 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. Maurice was born in Molfetta, Italy and lived in Hoboken before settling in Hazlet 56 years ago. He proudly served his country in the Army in WWII. Maurice, or "Moe" as most knew him, touched the lives of so many. He was a man whose contagious personality could put a smile even on a stranger's face. If you knew Moe you knew his stories about his days in the army and/or about his trials and tribulations coming over from Italy at an early age and settling in Hoboken. His positive outlook and zest for life will long be instilled in all those he has touched.
Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Jessie; 3 sons, Richard and his wife Irma, Maurice Jr. and his wife Deborah, and Robert; his daughter, Ann DeGennaro; and his 7 beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Arndt; and 3 brothers, Dominick, John and Peter DeGennaro.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd, Middletown. Please arrive at 10:15. Cremation will be private.
