Nicola T. Rubino

AGE: 94 • Middletown

Nicola T. Rubino, 94, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Hazlet. Nicola was born on July 19, 1919 in Manhattan, NY, where he grew up. In 1984, he and his wife Clemencia retired to Port St. Lucie, FL and recently returned to NJ, settling in Middletown. Nicola was a retired Long Shoreman for the I.L.S.A. and a proud U.S. Coast Guard veteran, serving during WWII.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gaetano and Carmela (Zangara) Rubino. Nicola is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Clemencia Rubino; his loving daughters, Carmela Grace and her husband Thomas of Aberdeen, and Dolores Messina and her husband Nick of Brooklyn, NY; his cherished grandchildren, Nicole Cascio and her husband Joe, Anthony Grace, Diane Messina and Michael Grace, along with his adored great-grandchildren, Billy Gagliardo, Joseph Cascio, Nicholas Gagliardo and Sofia Cascio. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Family and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning, Dec. 19 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet. Mass of Christian Burial 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Keyport. In respect of Nicola's wishes, he will be privately cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Nicola to the St. Joseph Haiti Committee, 376 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735, would be greatly appreciated.
