Patrick J. Connolly, 85, loving husband of Ann "Nancy" Bedell, whom he married on August 27, 1948 at St. Monica's Church in New York City. Widowed on November 19, 2010. Father of Patrick, grandfather of Brendan and Timothy. He was born in New York City, educated in the New York Parochial School System, graduating from Annunciation Grammar School, Cardinal Hayes High School and Iona College. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army, he was a veteran of WW II and the Korean War. He also attended New York University School of Business and New York Law School. While attending high school and college, he was employed as a pressman at Time, Inc. He subsequently worked for ten years as a claims supervisor. He later owned and operated a family-oriented tavern in Sunnyside, New York. After selling the tavern, he was a Sales Representative for United Liquors of Boston, Massachusetts. He was a 50 year member of Wyantenuck Country Club where he recorded two holes in one. He was Post Commander of V.F.W. Post 8348 and District Commander of Berkshire County V.F.W. Surviving are his son, Patrick and his wife, Lorraine of Lincroft, grandsons, Brendan and his wife Kathleen, Timothy and his wife Alison, and two great-grandchildren, Molly and Braeden. Also surviving are his sister Anne and brother, Thomas, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm at the John F Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:30 am at St. Leo The Great RC Church, 50 Hurley's Lane, Lincroft. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
