Paul G. Genander, 89, of Beachwood, died on July 31, 2014. Born in Worcester, Ma., he retired to Beachwood in 1965. Paul proudly served his country in the US Military for 22 years. He first served in the Navy during WWII. He then continued to serve in the Army during the entire Korean War. He retired from distinguish service as Sergeant First Class in 1965. As a civilian, he worked many years at Barnegat Bay Welding Company in Bayville. He was both a Charter and Life member of the VFW Post #9503 and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2394, both of Bayville.
Paul is predeceased by his son Ricky. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Theresa (Terry); three children, Cathy MacNeill and husband Bob, Brian Genander and wife Patti and, Paul Genander II and wife Jessica; one sister Marilyn Stake and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Amy, Kyle, Taylor, Dustin, Shannon and Ricky.
Visiting hours will be Monday, Aug. 4th, from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Tuesday, 8:30am at the funeral home before celebrating an 9:30am Funeral Mass at St. Barnabas Church, Bayville. Burial to follow to New Jersey Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory to: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #9503, 383 Veterans Blvd., Bayville NJ 08721, would be appreciated.
