Philip Abraham Hartley

AGE: 96 • Manchester Twp.

Philip Abraham Hartley, 96, of Manchester Township, NJ, passed away at home on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014. He was born in Paterson, NJ, on June 13, 1917. He was publicly schooled until graduating from Paterson High School. Philip then attended Penn State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Following his graduation in 1941, he became an Electrical Engineer for the Bendix Corporation until his retirement in 1992. He and his wife Grace, then moved from Holmdel Twp., NJ to Leisure Village West, Manchester Twp.

Mr. Hartley was predeceased by his beloved wife, Grace Wheeler Hartley on March 28, 2013. They were married in 1942 and celebrated 71 wonderful years of marriage together. He was also predeceased by both of his parents. He is survived by his son, Thomas James Hartley, and his daughter, Betty Jean Lohman, both of Manchester Twp., NJ. Also surviving are three wonderful grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a loving nephew.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 from 3 to 7 PM at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. There will be a graveside service on Saturday at 11 AM at Shoreland Memorial Park in Hazlet, NJ. Condolences may be made by visiting www.andersonandcampbell.com.
