Phillip Gene Grossman, 87, of Brick, passed on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Asbury Park, he lived in Neptune and Wall before moving to Brick. Gene was an insurance agent, he also owned the family seafood business in Asbury Park. He and his wife Verna relocated the business to Oakhurst in 1971, now known as Grossman's Deli, until their retirement in 1985. After his retirement he worked for various Limo Companies and Local Funeral Homes. He served in the US Army during WW II. He was a member of the Men's Club of Lions Head South, Brick and the Asbury Park Elks Lodge 128.
He is predeceased by his wife Verna "Sis" who passed in 2011. He is survived by his sons Kim and his wife Kathy, Dirk J. and his wife Michele, his daughter Sharon and her husband Frank Cooper. He has 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Visiting will be Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd, Toms River. Funeral Services Thursday 10:00 am at the Funeral Home, arrive 9:30 am, interment to follow Monmouth Memorial Park, www.silvertonmemorial.com.
