AGE: 87 • Forked River
Ralph Skelly, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Tallwoods Care Center, Bayville after a long illness. Born and raised in Jersey City, son of John and Sophia Skelly, he moved with his family to Parsippany, Clinton, and Bernardsville before retiring to Forked River. He was an Army veteran of WWII and Korea. He graduated from Seton Hall University and attended New York University graduate school. He was a purchasing executive at Foster Wheeler Corp. for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 66 years, Dolores, whom he met as a returning WWII GI; daughter Deborah Schuessler and her husband Robert and granddaughters Michelle and Nicole Schuessler; daughter Susan Skelly; daughter Lorraine Van Ness and her husband Douglas and grandchildren Robert, Kelly, and Kate; son Ralph Skelly and his wife Margaret and grandsons Paul and Kevin; and three great-grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Pius X RC church, and member of the Old Guard and American Legion.
Visitation will be held at Layton's Home For Funerals, 250 West Lacey Road, Forked River on Monday, June 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Relatives and friends may arrive at the funeral home 11 am ; A mass of Christian burial will take place 12 noon, Tuesday, July 1st at St. Pius X RC Church, 300 Lacey Road, Forked River.
