Raymond E. Manger, 85, of Jackson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, with his entire family at his side. He was born in Newark and he attended Seton Hall University before joining the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War as a 1st Lieutenant.

Ray married Eleanor Kaiser in 1951 and lived in Fort Hood, TX before moving to Bloomfield, NJ. They resided in Belmar, NJ from 1961 until 2008 where they raised their family. Ray worked for Design Service Co., N.Y.; Condiesel, Hartford CT; and Schlumberger Photo Electric in Princeton, NJ as a mechanical engineer before retiring at age 70 where he continued as a consultant well into his 70's. Ray and Eleanor were accomplished ballroom dancers. Ray is a communicant of St. Veronica's Roman Catholic Church in Howell, NJ.

Ray is predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Marie and in 2012 by his daughter, Patricia Smith. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor Manger and his six children, daughter Eileen Grohowski and her husband Don of Pt Pleasant; son-in-law, Roger Smith (husband of Patricia) of Lincoln PA; son, Stephen Manger and his wife Sandra of Parkertown; daughter, Susan Morgan and her husband Steve of New Gretna; daughter, Suzette Rizzitello and husband Joseph of Belmar; daughter, Karen Newman and husband Bill of Spring Lake; and daughter, Kim Fariello and husband Tony of Brick. Ray has 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A mass in celebration of his life will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at St. Veronica's Church, 4215 Route 9, Howell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to please send donations to "The Pat Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund", 300 East South St., Kennett Square, PA 19348.
