AGE: 86 • Seaside Heights

Richard A. Chabok, 86, of Seaside Heights, NJ passed away peacefully at his home on Friday May 30, 2014. He lived in Plainfield, NJ before moving to Seaside Heights, NJ in 1948. After graduating from Plainfield High School, he proudly served his country in the US Navy.

Richard Chabok was the President of the Strand Amusement Company, Seaside Operating Company and RAC Corporation all in Seaside Park. Also, he was the owner and operator of Strand Skilo in Seaside Park. In Seaside Heights he held the office of Councilman and sat on the Board of Education.

As an active parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help RC Church in Seaside Heights, he was a member and past treasurer for their Holy Name Society. He was a life member of The Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #399 in Ortley Beach, the Elks #1698 in Pt. Pleasant and the American Legion #351 in Seaside Heights. Richard Chabok was a proud owner of thoroughbred race horses with multiple winners.

He was predeceased by his parents John E. and Florence Chabok, a brother John V. Chabok and a sister Lois Shaw.

Surviving is his loving wife Alma Chabok of Seaside Heights, NJ; two sons Richard M. Chabok of Seaside Heights, NJ and Robert A. Chabok of Las Vegas, NV; three daughters Doreen Paolo of Bluffton, SC, Jerilyn Brown of West Palm Beach, FL and Connie Chabok of Cape May County, NJ. Five Grandchildren Joseph Paolo, Jessica Tango, Matthew Brown, Samantha Brown and Casey Utz and two Great Grandchildren Jake Paolo and Madeline Tango.

Family will receive friends Wednesday June 4, 2014 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday June 5, 2014 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Seaside Heights, NJ. The Committal will be private.
