Richard Charles Michael Hughes (Cigar Man) age 74, of Leonardo died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Long Branch and lived in the Leonardo area most of his life.
He served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion post 338, The VFW 2179, and the Disabled Veterans of America.
He served his community as one of the directors of Bayshore Village. He was a member of the County Committee for many years. He was a volunteer for the Santa Train in Middletown. He was also the Master of the Hayride for Middletown Day.
Mr. Hughes is predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Elise, his brothers, Frederick and Arthur and granddaughter, Kirsten McCoy. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Leonardo; a daughter, Celeste Prusakowski and her husband Ernest "Rusty"; son, Eric McCoy; son, Noel McCoy and his wife Wendy; son, Shannon McCoy and his wife Kara; and grandchildren, Taryn, Nichole, Quinn, Kylen and Aidan and a brother, Robert Hughes. He is also survived by Louis Hughes, Lori Hughes, and Shelly Hughes.
There will be a memorial gathering on Saturday, May 3 from 2-4pm at the John P. Condon Funeral Home in Leonardo. Cremation services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to
