Richard R Bond

AGE: 77 • Manchester

Richard R Bond, 77 of Manchester passed away March 31, 2014 after his long courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born in Long Island, NY, Rich grew up in the Inwood section of Manhattan, NY. He served in the Army during Korea from 1955-1957. Rich married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia A Downs in 1958. They moved to Jackson, with their three daughters in 1962 and became the first city postal carrier in Jackson. After 37 years of service, he retired from the US Postal Service in 1992. He moved and retired with his wife to Manchester. He is a parishioner of St Aloysius Church in Jackson for 50 years and a member of the Holy Name Society. Rich was a member of the Leisure Knoll American Irish and Veterans Clubs. He is predeceased by his parents, Francis & Charlotte and brothers, Francis & Edward Bond. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Patricia, daughters, Diane Bond of Whiting, Susan Bond-Masterson & husband Richard of Toms River, and Nancy Bond of Beachwood, and 4 grandchildren, Erin, Chelsea, Kyle and Keenan. In the words of Norman Greenbaum, "He's going up to the spirit in the sky." Visitation is Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Friday 9 AM at St Aloysius Church, Jackson with interment to follow at Brigadier Gen Wm C Doyle NJ Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown.
