Robert John Petrella, age 69 of Long Branch, died peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Monday, August 4, 2014. Mr. Petrella was a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick and a Lamba Chi Alpha fraternity brother. He was the Vice President of Sales at Institutional Research Sales in New York City. Mr. Petrella served honorably as Captain in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for valor. He remained in close friendships with his fraternity brothers and fellow Marines. Born in Philadelphia, PA he had lived in Havertown, PA before moving to Long Branch in 1961.
He was predeceased by his parents, Renato and Helen Petrella. Surviving are his loving wife Lois Ann Petrella; two daughters, Sari Ann Feltman and Marni Jill Feltman; his brother, Kenneth M. Petrella; his sister, Janice Petrella Walsh and her husband Nicholas; 3 grandchildren, Haley, Kyle and Michael and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014, from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. Funeral Friday, 10:00 am at the funeral home with the Service to begin at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517. Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
